Polynucleotides (otherwise known as the fish sperm facial)
After decades of research and use in the medical field, polynucleotides are a fairly new, sophisticated development in aesthetics: these ‘biostimulators’ work at a cellular level, triggering skin to regenerate itself. As polynucleotides initiate your body’s natural fibroblast production, this results in increased collagen and a thicker, healthier epidermis. As opposed to temporarily adding volume, they are a form of skin revitalisation, treating overall skin quality, scarring and also challenging areas to treat, such as the under eye area.
The Next Generation in Skin Rejuvenation
Using filtered, ultra-purified and sterilised natural DNA fractions, these injectable serums deliver a raft of benefits for skin – firstly, working as a wound healing agent (on scar tissue and skin imperfections) then using their antioxidant properties to boost cell renewal, reduce inflammation and restore youthful volume and hydration. This type of ‘regenerative medicine’ prompts skin to perform better over time, using its own, natural process, so is a welcome, longer-term option for smoother, brighter, healthier skin.

Regenerative Aesthetics
The overall impact clinically of high-purity polynucleotides when administered in skin is an improvement in intrinsic skin quality, with increased skin glow, reduction in pore size, improved smoothness, greater elasticity, improved humectant capacity and skin turgor.
Polynucleotide treatment guide & FAQs
-
Before we carry out any treatment, we will ask you to book an initial consultation with Amanda our registered nurse prescriber.
Here we will take a full medical history and, if required, carry out a computerised skin analysis that allows us to examine magnified 3D images of your face.
We will also carry out a visual assessment of your skin and talk to you about your needs, hopes and expectations. Having gathered all this valuable information, we will then have a better understanding of which treatment you need to achieve the best outcome.
-
It may be that you come to us with a specific treatment in mind however, if on assessment, we feel an alternative might be more appropriate then we’ll let you know. Whatever the case, we will very much consider your individual needs and give you an honest assessment, including realistic expectations of the outcomes of your treatment.

Polynucleotide skin treatments are a super effective form of skin booster, known as bio- or skin revitalisation treatments, made from filtered, ultra-purified and sterilised natural DNA fractions in the form of an injectable serum. They differ from other skin boosters in that they’re not made from hyaluronic acid and they initiate your body’s natural fibroblast production which in turn produces collagen and elastin, the skin’s natural proteins. Polynucleotides were developed after over 40 years of scientific research and development, have been used in the medical field for over 35 years and are not associated with adverse reactions.
One of the unique properties of hyaluronic acid is that it can hold up to 1000 times its body weight of water. Whilst some cosmeceutical products and treatments help, the most popular and effective way to restore lost HA is by using injectable treatments.

At Attic Medi Spa we use Mastelli who are leading manufacturers in regenerative medicine. The polynucleotide products we use are plinest and their newest plinest eye.

Unlike dermal fillers and hyaluronic-acid-based skin boosters which temporarily plump skin, polynucleotides are powerful wound healing polymers that kick start your body’s own regeneration process, helping to repair tissue by restoring cell damage and deeply nourishing skin cells.

Polynucleotides are used to improve skin elasticity, thickness, hydration, texture and overall skin health. They are commonly used to treat sun damaged skin / photoaging, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, stretch marks and acne scarring, as well as to counteract dark circles under the eyes and to strengthen the thin skin around lips – notoriously difficult areas to treat. Areas we can treat include the face, scalp, neck, decolletage, upper arms and hands, as well as other areas – for example, where you have scarring from surgery.
They are also an excellent alternative for patients who aren’t suitable for tear trough filler or who react to hyaluronic-acid-based products -
Treatment will take from 45 to 60 minutes, including numbing cream.
-
You may notice small bumps at the injection sites while the product is absorbed – this is normal and subsides within a day or two. If you are having your neck treated, the bumps may last a little longer as skin there is thinner. You may also experience mild redness, tenderness or itching temporarily. With any injection, there is a small risk of post-treatment bruising or slight swelling at injection points however, as we inject so superficially, this is minimal.
-
As a topical anaesthetic cream is applied, you will barely feel the injections being administered.
-
Results will be visible from around 6 to 12 weeks after treatment. This is because these products work on a cellular level over time, rather than acting like dermal fillers which replace lost volume in the short term.
-
You will need three treatments, spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart. You may then choose to have single treatments in 6 to 9 months’ time to maintain results.
